My 1st--(801st)--day at Marlborough
I'm so excited: it's like I got accepted all over again! I'm going back to Marlborough. I pitched them the idea of letting me go back and be a sort-of-student again and do a blog.
Being a high school student again is the least of my worries. My biggest fear is blogging. What the heck is a blog? (Alice Dick from my class started a blog before I even had a cell phone, so I'm really behind the times.)
Other causes of angst: what if I can't pass the PSAT? What if I forget to pick my kids up from the bus because I'm on the bus? Or I fail to feed the guinea pigs because of homework? Or my uniform makes me look fat?

OK, and I'm sort of worried about anything that has to do with math.
To be accurate, I'm not really going to wear a uniform, and I'm not attending full time--I can't because of my kids and guinea pigs--but I'll be doing many drop-ins throughout the semester.
Fellow Alumnae (and only you know that plural women Alums ends with an -ae), lend me your ears: can you please give me some advice, or suggestions--on what should I look for and report?
I'll be starting in the next couple of weeks. Help!

What a great idea - sort of Julie and Julia... I have a picture of Miss Carnes up in my classroom where I teach to remind me of kind, consistent expectation of high quality. I wish she could know that she had that kind of an effect on me. Thank you, Marlborough!

Hey Cous,
I knew it was AlumnAE and I went to public school (ye gads!). It must be the "Nana" influence. It did make me laugh though that you would use it correctly-of course you would-you're Jaye. Unlike the rest of the World who (oh gosh is that whom?) would have settled for Alumni. Sounds like a fun project. Did you pack a lunch?
OK, these are my first 2 comments--I love it! Now, if I post a comment back, will they just post, or will they go back to Julia and Heldi? Testing, testing, 1-2-3.
If I know you, you will be collecting uniform slips. Speaking of slips, I can see your underoos, Jayeson!
What grade are you in? Can't wait to hear about your first dance! Maybe a mixer with Loyola? Do you have a curfew? Hmmmm.....
Jaye, you better start reading the Twilight series now- and I may have to make you a mix CD so you can say, "Of course, I totally downloaded the latest Lady Gaga remix!"
Brilliant! When I toured the new building I wanted to go back too. I would sign up for Doc's class and PE. I can't wait to read about your adventures. See you on the tennis court xo
Jaye, this is very interesting for me as I have two daughters at marlborough now, 8th and 10th grades. If you ever want info from the "inside" inside, just let me know!

OK, Twilight Series: a good call--thanks, Dawn; Dina, would you and George consider adopting me?; KFB, I'm gunning for a Doc class,Carolyn, I think I can handle 8th grade because I am short; Weenson, is that you? My slip is totally showing. Turns out you can wear your skirt as you like it, Shakespeare! So my slip will be the hangdog one!
Julie - At one point during my 5 year tenure as an AP English teacher Miss Carnes came to me in dream. While the details of the dream remain murky, I recall waking in a glow of comfort and approval. I loved to make her smile.
